Obituary

Thursday morning, July 27, 2017, Eufrasina Plascencia Ymbert, our beautiful, loving mother, family matriarch, and our source of spiritual inspiration transcended this earth and is now our angel in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our mother left this world surrounded by her family, our prayers, and melodious singing of praises to God.
Eufrasina (Bache) Plascencia Ymbert, was born in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico on February 3, 1928. She is survived by her five children, Gilbert Ymbert, Jr. (Piedad), Yolanda Arevalo (Rick), Jimmy Ymbert (Nohemi), Irene Garcia (Joe), and Grace Moreno, (Rudy). She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Bache Ymbert was preceded in death by her daughter Frances, her husband Gilbert, her parents Ildefonso and Beatriz Plascencia, a sister Guadalupe Amador and brothers Francisco Plascencia, and Jose Navarette.
Bache was orphaned at a young age and was raised by her aunt and uncle in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. While an elementary school teacher at Escuela "Leona Vicario" in Cananea, a good looking soldier stationed in Yuma, AZ during the Korean War, stole her heart. Bache and Gilbert were married March 18, 1954 in Warren, AZ. Soon after, the new bride and young mother left her country and moved to Corpus Christi. She quickly became a naturalized US citizen and even became an assistant during those classes in order to better explain the terms and concepts to her fellow classmates. Bache was very proud of her citizenship and soon after obtaining it, quickly became involved in politics. She took her role as a block leader seriously. Bache never drove a car, but proudly walked her blocks to encourage people to vote. Through her involvement, she was greatly rewarded by many of the people she met during her walks becoming lifelong friends. She was happiest conversing and laughing with her friends and family. She had humor that only those close to her could understand. Many times she would silently glance over to catch someone's eye and they'd soon burst out in laughter.
Bache was always involved in all her children's activities. She was a PTA member, a Bluebird leader, a baseball team mom, and worked at the International Little League concession stand while her boys played ball and her husband coached. Any volunteer work that kept her close to her children she would gladly accept.
She and her husband, Gilbert, were devout Catholics and lifetime parishioners of Holy Family Catholic Church from its inception by helping in the planning, fundraising, and its building. Her church service included an active involvement in the many areas of ministry of the Guadalupanas, a religious charity organization and served several terms as their President. Due to her lay ministries of pastoral care she was often called to lead in the praying of the rosary at funerals and was always accessible to anyone in need of prayer. She was also an active member of the 7AM Puente Choir until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Despite not being able to be physically at church, she faithfully prayed the rosary, even up to her final day.
Although Bache's contributions to her community and family were many, her greatest gift to us all was her immense love and unwavering faith.
The family will be accepting visitors from 5PM - 9 PM on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Guardian Funeral Home (5922 Crosstown SH 285 CC, TX 78417) with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7PM. The funeral procession will depart at 11AM on Monday, July 31 from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church (2509 Nogales St. CC, TX 78416) where the funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM with interment to follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Garden Estates, Angel Bright, Christus Spohn South Hospital, Serenity House, Dr. Guillermo Ramirez and her caregivers and friends Sandra Flores and Grace Callejo.
