Esperanza Rodriguez, 72 of Corpus Christi, peacefully passed away on December 21, 2020 surrounded by her beloved family, after a brave and difficult battle with Cancer.
Hopie was born on May 22, 1948 to Dolores T. Chapa and Teresa Silvas in Kingsville, Texas. Hopie was a graduate of Kingsville High School and received her Lab Technician training at Driscoll Children's Hospital(DCH) in 1970. Her 20-year laboratory career expanded through hospital lab services and private physician offices.
At the age of 13 she met her soul mate and future lifelong partner, Felipe J. (Jesse) Rodriguez. Married on July 6, 1968 together they went on to create a bond like no other. Hopie and Jesse served as an example of strength, love, respect and faith. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Debra.
In 1990 Hopie felt the calling to serve our lord and dedicated her second 20-year career to Catholic church services. Hopie served as an administrative assistant for the Youth & Young adult office of the Diocese of Corpus Christi. She provided secretarial support and served as volunteer coordinator at St. Cyril & Methodius', later she transferred to St. Joseph Catholic church as office manager. Along with worked hours her volunteer services were teaching CCD and Life Team Core member, coordinator for Engagement Encounters, Cursillo and an active member of the catholic daughters of America, Our Lady of Guadalupe society and The Works of Mercy, to mention a few.
Hopie is predeceased by, her parents, Dolores & Teresa and her brother Carlos. She is survived and missed by her husband Jesse Rodriguez, daughter Debra (Artie) Castanon, granddaughter Heather Rodriguez; 6 Brothers, Luis (Estela) Chapa, Jesse Chapa, Francisco Chapa, Nestor (Rosie) Chapa, Eddie Silvas, Albert (Veronica) Silvas; 3 Sisters, Diana (Eduardo) Sanchez, Sylvia (Juan) Suarez, Francisca Silvas; 3 brothers in law, Luis Alonzo(Diane) Rodriguez, C.X. (Molly) Rodriguez, Raymond (Jessie) Rodriguez and 3 sisters in law, Dora (Joe)Quintanilla, Lupita (Alonzo) Saldana and Mary Jane (John) Zimmerman, Aunt Elena and Uncle Homero Garcia; Numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Hopie was and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, best friend, confidant and the irreplaceable love that can never be forgotten. For those of us that may be blessed with an entry into heaven we know she will be waiting with open arms for she had no strangers, no enemies and enough love for everyone.
The Rodriguez family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Bill and Mrs. Minnie Dennis as well as the staff and physicians at CHRISTUS Spohn Cancer Center for the years of love and care they extended our Hopie. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation in her memory. Rosary will be recited at 10am. Wednesday, December 30,2020 followed by Memorial Funeral Mass at Ss.Cyril & Methodius Catholic church.
