IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ernestina
Rodriguez
December 6, 1934 – December 1, 2020
Ernestina "Tina" Rodriguez, born in Violet, Texas. She was raised and lived throughout South Texas as a migrant worker. She first put down roots in Robstown and then later in Corpus Christi. She was called home by our Lord on December 1, 2020 at the age of 85 after a long fight to stay in this world with her beloved daughter Tanya, son in law, Avelino, and her two grandchildren, AJ and Viviana. Her family knows she is rejoicing in heaven--our loss on this earth is her greatest reunion with our Father. She is preceded in death by her parents Horacio and Julianna Martinez, her two sisters Maria Martinez and Natividad Villanueva, and her two brothers Robert and Joe Martinez. She is survived by 5 sisters, 1 brother, two daughters, Janie (Zahi) Marjy and Tanya (Avelino) Rodriguez, two sons, Joe and Ted Rodriguez, and her 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Always one to help others, she always had a place for someone to stay in their time of need. There was never a limit of what she would do for those she loved. She would cook, clean, babysit, give you a room in her house, and everything in between to help. She taught her children much about sacrificial love by setting the example in doing everything she could to help family and friends in need. After suffering a massive stroke in 2007, she had to take a break from all her normal activities and so began her love story with her two youngest grandchildren. She had a remarkable green thumb and tending to her plants brought her joy and purpose in her later years. She had a great love for those who called her Mom, Grandma, Nana, Sister, Tia or just Tina. It has been so hard to see this wonderful lady leave this world, but she is an angel among us now leaving behind so many treasured memories for her family to cherish. We thank our loving Father in heaven for allowing Tina to be in our lives.
The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thanks to everyone who has reached out with kind thoughts, prayers, messages, texts, and gestures of love in our time of grief. We would also like to send a very sincere and loving expression of gratitude to Fr. Frank Martinez, Deacon Ron Martinez and the rest of our parish family at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for all of your love and support when we needed you the most. There are no words to express how much we love our parish family.
