Ernest Grant Jones, age 84, husband, father, missionary, went to be with the Lord on his Happy Heaven Day of February 3, 2017.  Surrounded by his loving family, he traversed peacefully from his home.
Ernie was born in Ouagadougou, Burkino Faso on January 29, 1933 to missionary parents, Harold and Margaret Jones.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie; his three children, Grant Jones (Rita), Janice Hayes (Stanley), and Donna Juillerat; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Mary), Joshua Juillerat (Crystal), Cameron Jones (Kayla), Chad Hayes, Jonathan Juillerat, and Victoria Fabie (Jan Kerwin); 4 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Finley, Cedar, and Maverick; 2 sisters, Peggy Lasley (Bill) and Virginia Corbin (Don); and numerous nieces and nephews.  His family was very important to him and our patriarch will be greatly missed.
As a teenager, Ernie dedicated his life to serving God and he never wavered, serving as a missionary with the Assemblies of God for 60 years to Malawi, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.  He believed and demonstrated that a true servant puts God first in everything that he does.   No task was ever too big and no task was ever too small.  Ernie never met a stranger and was always eager to share God's love as well as his favorite stories.  And he never ran out of his favorite hunting stories! After he could no longer travel overseas, he immersed himself into serving at Trinity Worship Center and was extremely grateful for the support and love of his church family.  Ernie's generosity, compassion, work ethic, and dedication to Christ made him a true pillar of faith.
In lieu of flowers, it was Ernie's humble request that a scholarship fund be established for pastors in Congo to pursue their BA degrees in Bible or Theology.  Donations may be sent to: Trinity Worship Center, 7010 Holly Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78412 with the notation "Congo Scholarship Fund."
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home.  A celebration of life service will be held at Trinity Worship Center on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with an interment to follow at Laguna Gardens Cemetery (formerly Duncan Cemetery).
