IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eric
Vera
January 5, 1970 – April 10, 2024
Eric Vera, 54, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at his side.
Eric graduated from Moody High School class of 1988. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from
1990 until 1994. During his service, he was deployed to Kuwait to fight in Desert Storm. He was very
proud of his service as a "Machine Gunner".
Eric worked for Haliburton and Miller Environmental Services as a truck driver. His hobbies included
keeping his truck and motorcycle sparkling clean. His favorite pasttime included listening (jamming out)
to all kinds of music but his favorite was rock and classic rock. He enjoyed being with his family at the
beach, fishing and bbqing. He was a very funny guy and always cracking jokes. Eric loved the Dallas Cowboys and was always the loudest in the room win or lose.
Eric loved his dog Simba and referred to him as his best friend and "therapist".
What made him special was the absolute and fierce love of his children and family. Eric did not do
anything half-hearted. He had great passion for the things and people he loved.
He was a devout Catholic and belonged to Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic church where he had many
friends. He attended church no matter how sick he was or how much pain he was in.
Eric is preceded in death by his father Jose V. Vera. He is survived by his mother, Dora Deluna,
brothers Joe Vera (Julia) and Roland Vera, sisters Susan V. (Richard) Sandoval, Veronica Vera and
Linda V. (Chris) Cavazos, his children Ericka Faith Vera, America Jewel Vera and Liberty Grace Vera,
grandsons Trey Josiah Garcia whom he raised as his only son, Joel and Jacob, granddaughters
Heavenlee Rose Perez whom he cherished, Jada and Jordan, and Laura Leal, mother of his children
