To know Eric Ray Longoria was to love Eric. His beautiful smile and dancing eyes would warm your heart in an instant. He always showed acts of kindness, was compassionate, happy, gentle and loving.

Eric Ray Longoria – doting father, beloved son and grandson, and friend to many – passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in Corpus Christi. He was born September 29, 1984, to Melissa Longoria and Albert Gomez. He attended Mary Carroll High School and Del Mar College. He loved learning and discovering information that satisfied his curiosity about the world around him.

Eric's daughters Aubrey and Cameron Longoria were his pride and joy. His eyes would take on the soulful depth of a proud dad whenever he was with them. He loved watching them grow up and was always happiest when he took them to the park, to the movies, a restaurant, or especially a weekend road trip to their favorite amusement parks.

At times Eric struggled with addiction and mental health. But he was always a man working to become the best version of himself and to mend the rifts in his life with love and devotion. He was always searching for peace and serenity during his time with us, and he always knew that attaining such a state of grace was within his reach.

Because of his struggles, Eric had great affinity for those who also faced difficulties. If a person on the street asked him for a dollar, he never hesitated to give one – always with a smile on his face and a kind word at the ready. He was also kind and generous to those who helped him, from family and friends to waitstaff to his fellow man working to be a better person. Christ teaches us what one does for the lowest, he also does for Him. Eric lived that lesson.

He is survived by his daughters Aubrey Emma Rae and Cameron Eleeyse, as well as their mother, Jennifer Avalos. He is also survived by his mother Melissa Longoria Goonan (Ralph), his father Albert Gomez (Yvonne), his grandparents Reynaldo and Mary Longoria, his uncle Ray Anthony Longoria (Ann), his aunt Joyce Longoria Sepulveda (Ronnie), his cousins Emily, Mia and Catherine Longoria, and Marisa and Zachary Sepulveda, and his fiancee Connie Rodriguez and her children Brianna and Isaac Sauceda.

Visitation will take place Sunday, October 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 25, at 11 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park at 1 p.m.

We hope and pray Eric's eternity is filled with the peace and serenity of Our Heavenly Father's grace, and that one day his dancing eyes will meet ours once again.
