IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Enrique "Chacha"
Elizondo
October 5, 1958 – May 23, 2025
Enrique Elizondo Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and treasured great-grandfather, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico, and raised in Saltillo, Enrique eventually settled in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he built a life filled with purpose, family, and strength.
Enrique was one of many siblings in the Elizondo family, born to the late Rodolfo and Rita Elizondo. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jose Luis, Oscar, and Rodolfo Elizondo. He is survived by his brothers Pablo, Armondo, and Ignacio Elizondo, as well as many cherished sisters: Irma Ortiz, Maruca Chavarria, Oralia Rodriguez, Teresa Alvarado, and Rita Leticia Torres.
On February 17, 1979, Enrique married his beloved wife, Nancy Elizondo, in Corpus Christi. Together, they shared over four decades of love and partnership. He was a dedicated father to Evelyn (Louis) Escamilla and Enrique Elizondo Jr., always putting his family at the center of his life.
Enrique took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Louis (Mary Kay) Escamilla III, Eric Escamilla, Nicholas Escamilla, and Elysse Escamilla, and was overjoyed to welcome his great-grandchildren, Heylie Escamilla and Louis Escamilla IV.
Enrique worked for 25 years with the Corpus Christi street and utilities department, where he was known by colleagues and friends for his steady work ethic and many skills. His experience in sheet rock was a consistent part of his career, both before and throughout his time with the city. He specialized in sheet rocking ceilings for homes and businesses across Corpus Christi and the surrounding areas, taking pride in every project he touched.
Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things—family gatherings, time spent in Bandera, and being surrounded by those he loved.
Enrique's life was a testament to loyalty, resilience, and love. He leaves behind a family who adored him, and a legacy that will live on through generations.
