Elvira Mondragon Villa was called home by our Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2015, in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 79. Elvira was born October 30, 1935 in Corpus Christi, Texas and lived her life as a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.
Elvira retired from both Kmart and Walgreens in Corpus Christi, and she enjoyed the many work and customer relationships she built throughout her career. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially Friday night dinners at her favorite mexican restaurants, and trying her luck with occasional fun trips to casinos and playing the lottery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Belia Mondragon, and her two brothers, Manuel and David Mondragon.
Elvira is survived by her two children: Diana R. Pena and Ernest "Sonny" Rocha Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas.; three grandchildren: O.C., John, and Rachel Cantu; and three great grandchildren: Nathan Ramirez, Ramsey Perez, and Meelah Cantu. She is also survived by her two sisters: Elisa Melendez and Gloria Pina of Corpus Christi, Texas; her three brothers: Lorenzo (Margarita) and Ruben (Lupita) Mondragon of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Richard (Cruz) Mondragon of Grand Prairie, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Public visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Guardian funeral home chapel "A" with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Guardian funeral home chapel with Pastor Rugiero Izaguirre officiating.
