Obituary

On the morning of May 4th, 2016 at 12:43 am Eloy C. Martinez went home to be with the Lord after battling various health issues from a stroke. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Eloy C. Martinez was born on February 4, 1939 in Goliad, Texas to his parents Placido and Paubla Martinez and out of 11 children he was the second to the youngest. When Eloy was a small child the family moved to Houston, Texas where Eloy resided until he retired in 2008. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He worked in the refinery business for several years and retired from Crown Petroleum Company. Eloy also worked as an Electrical Engineer with the Houston Police Department. He and his wife Julie of 53 years, raised 5 children together. Throughout their years they shared laughter and tears, ups and downs, but always stuck together. Julie was the love of his life and each mother's day he'd set money aside to buy her a special gift. When Eloy's eyesight started fail, he made certain that his family selected a gift for Julie that fit his specifications. He was a loving husband and will always remain in her heart.
Eloy was a good father. He taught his children to be self-sufficient and independent. Eloy would have talks with Julie and would say. "The kids need to learn how to do everything". "What if they don't get married"? He taught them basic home cleaning, house repair and carpentry. But the best life lesson he taught was to always help those in need.
He was a talented musician and his favorite past-time was playing his guitar. Among many hobbies he enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, cooking and gardening. He was also great handyman.
Eloy is proceeded in death by his parents Placido and Paubla Martinez, brothers, Raul Martinez, Albert Martinez, Paul Martinez, Rueben Martinez and Elias Martinez. Eloy is survived by his wife of 53 years Julie Martinez; daughter Julie A.
