In Loving Memory of Elida Gomez Alvarado

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, & Sister, who entered eternal rest on December 18, 2025. She was 85 years old. Elida was born on August 9, 1940, born in Corpus Christi, Texas. She loved life and her family whom she dedicated her life to. She loved dancing to conjunto music, together with our dad, and with her Mom & Dad, who also loved dancing, whom she is probably with right now. In her later years she loved going to bingo. She cared for her grandchildren and made them their favorite foods, especially those special pancakes she made with so much love.

Preceded in Death by

Elida was preceded in death by her husband Gregorio Alvarado Sr., her parents, Gregorio and Guadalupe Gomez, as well as a sister Estela Gomez.

Surviving Family

Elida is survived by her daughters: Estela (Ignacio) Pena, Sara Alvarado, & Juanita (Domingo) Hernández. Her sons: Gregorio (Esther) Alvarado Jr., Ricardo (Eunice) Alvarado, & Jaime (Rosa) Alvarado.

Her grandchildren: Daniel (Wendy) Pena, Rebecca (Paul) Gutiérrez, Michael Alvarado, Rodolfo Hernández, Victoria Hernández, Ricky Gregorio Alvarado, & Annette Alvarado (Victor Garza).

Her great-grandchildren: Bianca Isabella, Nadia Danielle, Ariana Noemi, & Daniel Ignacio Pena, Paul Ryan, & Jacob Gutierrez, Adrianna & Alexis Hernandez, Jaiden, JoAnthony, & Aaliyah Arce, & her new great-granddaughter, Genysis Garza, born on same day as great-grandma's passing. What a blessing.

She is also survived by her loving Sister, Elvira Munoz, whom we are so blessed to have in our family. She has been our strength, spiritually and mentally, and so much help with the care of my mom. Thank you, Tia Vira, for your prayers and God's word, you kept us strong. Always reminding us that Jesus will take care of all our needs, and he did. Nothing can ever repay for all you did during this time with your help in caring for our mom. You were always there whenever we needed you, unconditionally.

Service Information

Visitation will be held at Guardian Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 24th from 830am-12pm. The Holy Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 12:30pm and the Funeral Mass will be at 1pm. The Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 2:30pm.
