Obituary

Surrounded by his family in his Corpus Christi home, Efrain Gomez Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home for his eternal rest on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Efrain was born in Aquismon, San Luis Potosi, Mexico on January 9, 1939 to Abel and Maria Gomez. He moved to the United States in 1947 at the age of eight. He graduated from W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1959. That same year, he proudly joined the United States Air Force where he served four years at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. He married his loving wife of 56 years, Irma Gomez on September 11, 1964. He was employed with Hygeia Dairy Company as a supervisor and retired after 31 years. He spent the next 20 years as an insurance agent with Reliable Life Insurance Company and United Health Care.

He is preceded in death by his father, Abel Gomez, his mother Maria Gonzalez Gomez, his sisters, Lucia De La Pena, Georgina Sanders, and Alma Gomez.

Efrain will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife, Irma Gomez, his children, Adriana Quezada (Mario), Efrain Gomez II, Sergio Gomez (Melissa) and Rolando Gomez, by his four grandchildren, Efrain Gomez III, Ryan Trevino, Victoria Gomez, and Aaron Gomez, his brothers Jose Gomez (Tina) and Sergio Gomez (Frances) and his 23 nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel ''A" with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, 1101 Bloomington.
(ALL ATTENDING FUNERAL MASS PLEASE MEET FAMILY AT THE CHURCH) .
Burial will follow with Military Honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Reception will follow at the Guardian Hall 5813 Ayers St./Carolyn.

Efrain was a great storyteller and loved sharing stories of all aspects of his life. He was giving, kind and generous and never thought twice about helping anyone in need. He truly loved his family and friends and we were blessed to have him in our lives. He will be greatly missed.
