Edwina Earlene Walker (McCormick) passed away on March 31, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 90. She was born on a Monday March 26, 1934, in Enterprise, Illinois, and lived a life marked by love, compassion, and service to others.
Edwina is survived by her cherished daughter, Phyllis Yohe of Mt. Erie, Illinois; her adopted son, Gayle Carter of Illinois; her adopted daughter, Stacy Rey of Corpus Christi, Texas; her stepson, Gabriel Mireles; her stepson, Kenneth Walker; her stepdaughter, Connie Pierson; her stepdaughter, Alene Land; her chosen son, Fred Paul of Corpus Christi, Texas; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maynard McCormick; her mother, Ada McCormick (Miller); her brothers, Ronald McCormick and James McCormick; her son, Rodney Bullock; her daughter, Barbra Garrett (Bullock); her husbands, Rey Mirales, Harry Lee, and Earl Walker.
Edwina's career as a registered nurse spanned many years, during which she tirelessly cared for others, often juggling multiple jobs simultaneously as a home health provider, cleaning lady, and bar owner. Her dedication to serving those in need was unwavering, reflecting her compassionate nature.
In her leisure time, Edwina found joy in various hobbies, including needlepoint, crochet, stitching, embroidery work, antique shopping, and exploring yard and garage sales. In her later years, she developed a passion for puzzles, delighting in assembling them and sharing her completed creations with others.
Beyond her professional and personal pursuits, Edwina made significant contributions to her community, extending a helping hand to many in need. She was known for her generosity, often taking in those who required assistance and providing care and support without hesitation. Edwina was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Minnesota, where she dedicated her time to serving others and supporting her church family.
Edwina's legacy of kindness, compassion, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her giving heart and unwavering commitment to helping others leave an indelible mark on the world, reminding us of the importance of love, generosity, and service
