Eduardo (Eddie) Luis Rentas, Jr., was born on July 20, 1963, and grew up in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In 1985, he enlisted in the US Army. During his time in service, he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Casey, South Korea; Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Panama; and Fort Hood, Texas. He served in a combat tour (1990-1991), with the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. He also served a combat tour (2010-2011) with the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain Brigade), in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
His military awards include the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO Afghanistan Service Medal, the South West Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. During his time of service, he also received the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Action Badge.
Eduardo Rentas is survived by his wife, Lori Rentas of Corpus Christi, Tx; his children, Eduardo Rentas (Tito), Spencer Rentas (wife-Chelsea), Hadley Rentas, all of Connecticut; Mackenzie Rentas of Tupper Lake, NY; his grandchildren, Charleigh, Wyatt, and Capri; his stepchildren, Daniel (wife-Emily), Ruby (husband-Johnny), Krista (husband-Alex), David, Sierra, Brandon; and his step grandchildren, Johnny, Ella, Aubrey, Jewel, and Dakota.
In addition, Eddie is survived by his parents, Eduardo L Rentas, Sr. and Irma Sepulveda Rentas; his brother, Danny Rentas and his wife, Lydia, all of Killeen, Tx, as well as his nieces, Lyrmarie and Johanna and their families.
Eddie was a free spirit and had a great love for life. His heart lived for the ocean, but especially lived for family. Eddie had a way of making you instantly love him. We will truly miss his jokes and laughs, and his generous heart and all of the love he gave. May he rest in Peace.
He will forever be in our hearts.
Family visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Guardian funeral home chapel "B". Military honors will follow at 12 noon.
