In Loving Memory

Edmundo A. Gonzalez, aged 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026. A U.S. Army veteran, he served his country with pride before beginning a long career in refinery work at LyondellBasell, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. His hands were never idle, and his heart was always open. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. His life was defined by hard work, generosity, and a genuine love for people. He never met a stranger—every new face was simply a friend he hadn’t gotten to know yet.

He spent 49 beautiful years married to his wife, Rosie; a love defined by loyalty, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He was the best dancer and when they were on the dance floor, their moves were as full of life as his spirit. Just like when they danced together, their shared bond was the steady center of his life, and he cherished every moment they had with their five daughters.

As a proud girl dad, he embraced fatherhood with tenderness and pride, and poured his heart into raising daughters who adored him and learned strength, kindness, and humor from his example. Missy, Lydia, Sandy, Lori, and Tina were blessed to have him as their father, but he was blessed tenfold to have them as his daughters. He was a man who gave without hesitation, worked without complaint, and loved without limits.

As much as he was a loving and devoted girl dad, he threw himself into that and more as a grandfather. Devoted was an understatement, as he dedicated his love and attention to all of them equally and without limit. Cristian, Luis, Sebastian, Gabriel, Gian, Omar, Mia, Milo, Mariana, and Mireya all held a special place in his heart regardless of how long they were in his life. Whether the connection was through blood or marriage, the one thing they had in common is that they all loved Papo, but more importantly he loved them more.

Whether he was lending a hand, sharing a laugh, or dancing with effortless joy, he brought light into every room. His legacy lives on in the family he built, the people he helped, and the countless moments of warmth he created amongst friends, family, and strangers alike.

All who knew him will forever remember his giving nature, his steady strength, and the way he made every person feel valued. He leaves behind a legacy woven from simple, powerful things: love given freely, work done well, and moments shared fully. His family will carry his spirit forward, grateful for every step they walked beside him.

In addition to immediate family, he is also survived by the sons-in-law he loved as the sons he never had until they found his daughters: Don, Lewis, Joe, and Emilio.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Esther Salazar, beloved daughter Lydia Gonzalez Villareal, and multiple brothers and sisters.

Service Information

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Edmundo's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Guardian funeral home chapel 5922 Crosstown Expressway with the visitation to begin at 3:30 p.m. and Full Military Honors will be

rendered at 4:45 p.m. followed by the Service at 5:00 p.m.
