Obituary

Ector Verdin, age 82, passed away July 31, 2025.

He was born on August 17, 1942 to Damas Jr. and Janie Verdin in Robstown, TX.

Ector married his wife, Lupita, of 62 years on July 21, 1962.

Ector enjoyed Life to the Fullest. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love, kindness, selflessness, love of laughter, quiet nature, and sense of adventure. A giver, devoted to family. Making sure family's needs were met as well as all who surrounded him. He made friends wherever he went. He had a heart of gold, definitely one to give his all to help the one in need. He never said "no" or "I can't." Despite his injury as a teen, he never complained of his pain, remained positive always.

He acquired his engineering degree, worked as a welder for Heldenfels, was an excellent car salesman, later in life he worked in the oilfield industry.

Ector is preceded in death by: His son Daniel H. Verdin, Mother Janie Verdin, Father Damas Verdin Jr. Half-brothers: Filemon Verdin, Felix Verdin

He is survived by his wife: Lupita Verdin, Children: Matilde Verdin-Garcia (LeRoy), Michael Verdin (Salinda), Paul Verdin (Michelle), Louie Verdin
Grandchildren: Roy Reyna Jr., Benjamin Reyna, Ashley (Frank) Rizo, Isaiah Verdin (Janelle), Lori Powell (Justin), Michael Verdin, Gerard Verdin, Jordan Verdin and Ezra Verdin. 17 Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Eudelia(Phil) Medina, Herlinda (Ramiro) Saldivar And many nieces, nephews & friends.

He loved gardening and barbecuing. Pops was a Jack of All Trades. There was nothing he couldn't repair. Giving up was not his thing. He was a great auto mechanic, body repairman, out-of-this-world upholstery designer and painter. He had a gift of knowing exactly what issues a car had just by listening and laying hands on it.

As a car salesman—well, let's just say—he could sell ice to an Eskimo. He was also a very skilled welder @ Heldenfels.

In the 80s, he learned jewelry making/repairs, worked from home, imparted that knowledge to sons. Alongside that, he taught himself how to repair computers. Opened a jewelry/computer repair shop at a flea market, where he had the best times making friends. His easygoing, passive nature and charm were sure to capture your heart. He was not boastful about anything. He enjoyed fishing. Many great memories fishing in Corpus with his family and friends. He made sure to teach all his kids and grandkids how to fish. Loved to go crabbing under the old lift bridge with a handmade net he made.

Ever since we can remember, he always had a love for photography—which is why we don't have many photos of him. He was usually behind the camera. Over the years he captured some great photos & videos of our families—especially special events/holidays.

Pops was also quite the skilled gambler and filled his pockets. He enjoyed going to casinos, game rooms, bingo, or just family gatherings to play Poker, Paco, Pokeno, or Lotería.

Another favorite family pastime was going to auto auctions. We started going in 198[?]. Last auction attended was 2024.

His last eight years were a gift from God. Never wavered emotionally, spiritually, or physically as he battled dialysis. Pops was our hero, our Purple Heart. He displayed such strength, faith, and unconditional love toward all.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 4-8pm with the Service to begin at 6:30pm.
