Obituary

Doyle Ray Bearden, age 81, passed away quietly early Monday morning, August 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. While this disease is cruel and methodically dismantles the mind, our father died with dignity and honor, thanks to a loving team of family members and nurses.

Doyle was born on October 4, 1942, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Adonis and Vera Burton Bearden. He and his family left Oklahoma for South Texas when he was very young, where he became a lifelong Texan. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, stationed in Vassin Court, France.

His long career included various construction jobs, starting out as a welder and advancing through the ranks to supervisory positions, eventually moving into refinery maintenance. He retired from Occidental Petrochemical Company as their Maintenance Supervisor.

Doyle enjoyed his retirement with family and friends, especially the younger ones. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and whenever the weather permitted, you could find either a golf club or a fishing pole in his hands.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters: Danette Farris (husband Keith) of Round Rock, TX; Michelle Ackerman (husband Mike) of Flower Mound, TX; Monica Spivey (husband Floyd) of Pipe Creek, TX; and Diana McClure (husband Tim) of Newark, TX.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Grady Lee (Trey) Malone of Hutto, TX; Krystal Malone of Jarrell, TX; Amber Evetts and Megan Evetts of Fort Worth, TX; Grace McClure and Carter McClure of Newark, TX. His great-grandchildren include Mackenzie Malone, Jackson Malone, Makala Dear, and Cody Comly, and he also leaves behind one great-great-grandchild, Adalynn Watkins.

His sister, Darlene Mitchell (husband Johnny) of Corpus Christi, TX, also survives him, as well as her daughters, Lisa Saied and Debbie Sellers, both of Corpus Christi, TX.

Doyle had many accomplishments, but his greatest one was putting his trust and faith in Jesus (John 11:25).

He will be missed.
