IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Aline
(Barnes) Langley
May 15, 1943 – January 11, 2021
Dorothy Aline (Barnes) Langley, 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas was reunited with her loved ones in heaven on Monday, January 11, 2021.
She was born May 15, 1943 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Carl Boyd Barnes and Marjorie Katherine Sells Barnes. After attending Pampa High School and obtaining her GED in 1961, she worked various jobs until she found her true passion and graduated beauty school. All of this led her to open several beauty salons throughout the 80s and 90s. Big hair, blue eyeshadow and red nail polish were her signature looks.
During this time, she married and had two sons (Jay & Michael) within 18 months. She had been told by doctors that she would never have children so she considered them to be miracle babies. Eleven years later she was blessed once again, but this time with a daughter (Jennifier).
Dorothy enjoyed working with her hands. Whether it was painting ceramics, crocheting blankets, cross-stitching canvases or cutting and curling ladies hair, her hands were always moving. She was also an avid reader, especially the murder mystery genre, but she wouldn't turn down a trashy Harlequin romance novel if someone gave it to her.
Once grandkids came along, that eventually totalled 16, her interests shifted to entertaining them and being their biggest fan. She enjoyed taking them to amusement parks and the pool and supporting them in their different sports. She will be remembered for her famous chicken nuggets and mac and cheese.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Carl and Marjorie, two sisters Karen Joann Barnes and Kathy Raye Poor, brother Carl DeWayne Barnes, and husband William Eugene Langley. She is survived by brothers Jim (Sue) Barnes of Bridgeport, Texas and Ed (Carole) Barnes of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, son Jimmie (Jay) Earl Woods, Jr. (Carolyn) of Beaufort, South Carolina, son Michael DeWayne Woods (Vallee) and daughter Jennifier Diane Krnavek (Bryan) of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Scott Allen Langley (Sharlan) of Pampa, Texas. Grandchildren left behind are Katie Woods, Emily Caisse, Jason Woods, Melissa, Michael, and Ashley Anderson, Jeremy Woods, Alea Frankie, Myka Woods, Traci Martinez, Gene Phillips, Kelsey and Stacia Krnavek, Shelby, Seth and Shaylee Langley. There are also numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. If Dorothy ever met you, you were her friend. Up until the last few years, she never failed to send a birthday and Christmas card to remind you she was thinking of you.
A memorial service will be held at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi on Saturday, January 16 at 11am. COVID protocols will be followed for those who choose to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice in her name.
