Obituary

Dora De La Rosa Pope passed away, surrounded by her children, peacefully and gracefully as she entered the majesties of heaven on November 19, 2018. She was born in Refugio, Texas on December 28, 1930, and shortly after her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. She was formerly employed at Ace Sales Company; Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and Corpus Christi Army Depot where she retired from.
Mom was truly an amazing person with a fun and unique spirit. She celebrated life and loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Mom loved all genres of music. She especially enjoyed singing to Mariachis and to the music of many classic Latin singers. Mom had an ear for music. She would pick up a harmonica or accordion and start playing a favorite tune instantly. She loved working in her garden and was so proud of her beautiful rose bushes that she named after her seven children. Mom was very creative and loved sewing. She sewed and designed many of our clothes growing up. Later, she lovingly sewed baby quilts for her grandchildren. We will miss her deeply and will treasure the many wonderful memories she blessed us with.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Justo and Manuela Rodriguez; Sisters, Virginia Rodriguez; Rosa Gonzalez and Altagracia Lemos. Brother, Abel Rodriguez; her husbands, Robert De La Rosa and Dr. Robert M. Pope; former husband, Henry R. Cavada. Her son, Richard Arnold De La Rosa; Grandson, Marcus Aaron Martinez; Grand-daughters, Chanel Danielle De La Rosa, Brooke Courtney Goulet. Great-granddaughter, Lauren Avery Garza.
She is survived by her children, Arthur (Cindy) Cavada; Rose (Michael) Navalta; Debra (Frank) Weikel; Robert R. (Renee) De La Rosa; Theresa (John) Schena; and Yvonne (Bruce) Goulet. 20 Grandchildren and 39 Great-Grandchildren, Numerous nieces and nephews, Niece; Norma Jean Soliz, who Mother considered like a daughter.
Our sincere thanks to Altus Hospice Care and their employees who tended to our Mother. A special thank you to Msgr. Lawrence White; Deacon Amando Leal; Mari; Letty; Carmen and Irma for the love and care given to our Mother.
