IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald T.
Gonzalez Sr.
April 18, 1951 – September 1, 2020
On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, Donald T. Gonzalez Sr., passed away in Corpus Christi, Texas; after a valiant fight with cancer.
His lighthearted spirit is carried on by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sylvia Carleen Gonzalez, and his three children: Donald T. Gonzalez Jr., Devon (Pedro Sr.) Alvarez, and David Odell Gonzalez.
Born on April 18, 1951 to his father, David Gonzalez Sr., who proceeds him in death, and his beloved mother, Cleotilda Gonzalez.
He was blessed to be raised by his mother and stepfather, Henry Acuna, along side his siblings; Lydia Gonzalez, David Gonzalez Jr., and Daniel Gonzalez, all of whom precede him in death, and no doubt waited to embrace him with open arms at their reunion.
He joined the Army, and served his country, loyally, for over two decades in the 82nd Airborne Division, earning many ribbons, and several medals for his services.
He spent his retirement fishing, shooting pool, listening to good music, pretending to know how to dance, playing Bingo, falling asleep in front of the T.V. and not letting anyone change the channel, cooking up some good Mexican food, telling really bad dad, and granddad jokes, making new friends, and reconnecting with old ones. More than anything, he showed his friends, and loved ones, how to have a good time. There aren't words to express how much he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, and children along with his three grandchildren; Pedro Alvarez Jr., Calixto Alvarez, and Karalina Perez; his brother and sister in law, Odell and Judy Langston, and their two children; Brooke and Grant; his sister in law, Priscilla Faye Flavell, and her daughter, Kelli; his sister in law Luz Angelica Gonzalez, and her, and David's daughter, Lydia; along with numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held with the family on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 1pm - 4pm, with Military Honors at 3pm, at Guardian Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11am at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.
