Obituary

Dolores Mir Hankins, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away January 13, 2022, in her home in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by her family. "Grandma Dolly" as she was affectionately known by family was born June 10, 1935, to Robert and Celia Mir. When someone you love passes away so much can be said about them. Trying to describe the wife, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother is hard but here goes: She was our mom! She loved us with everything she had. She was not perfect. Mom had her faults as we all do. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy. She loved to cook and bake. She would wake up praying and go to sleep praying. She loved being by the water and watching the waves, looking at the stars as well as enjoying the beautiful plants in her backyard. She loved going to garage sales, antiquing, and decorating her home as the seasons changed. She loved spending time with family and friends whether it be a house full of people or just some one-on-one time with each of us. Mom never met a stranger. Everyone was welcomed in her home with open arms and her beautiful smile. Bingo was one of her favorite pastimes and she was quite the frequent winner! During her last couple of years, she was at home spending more and more time surrounded by her family and the last few months enjoying us and holding her great grandbabies. Her smile said it all!

Mom leaves behind her daughters, Margot Suarez, Melissa Hankins, Laura Hankins, and Margaret Hankins. Three sons, Robert Hankins, Richard Hankins, and Alex Hankins. 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, two sisters, Blanche Hook and Mirta Mir. Numerous nieces and nephews and two very close cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Decatur "Hank" Hankins Ill, her son, Decatur "DD" Hankins IV, her parents, Robert and Celia Mir. Three brothers, Robert Mir Jr., Charles Mir, and Max Mir. Mom we love you - your smile is engrained in our hearts and our minds. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. There will be a small family gathering at The Seaman's Memorial Tower at Conn Brown Harbor in Aransas Pass, Texas on Saturday January 22, 2022, at 3:00 pm, weather permitting.
