Obituary

Dolores Tamez Cruz, lovingly known to all as Lola, was called home by our Heavenly Father on the evening of March 19, 2025, at 10:59 PM, surrounded by her loving family who held her hand and gently released her into eternal peace, where suffering would be no more, and love would carry her the rest of the way home.

Lola was born on September 27, 1952, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Manuel Tamez and Catalina De Los Santos.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Catalina De Los Santos; her loving husband of 32 years, Ignacio Cruz, with whom she is now joyfully reunited in Heaven; and her siblings Dario Tamez, Rosa Velia, Jose Tamez, and Juan Tamez.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved sons: Mario Cruz (Natalie), Ignacio Cruz Jr. (Cynthia), Javier Cruz (Karina), and Jose Cruz. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren—Karizma, Autumn, Harley, Marcelo, Arianna, Brianna, Javier Jr., Alicia, Vivian, Kamien, and Annalee—each of whom brought her endless joy, and 5 great-grandchildren who lit up her world. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Javier Tamez (wife), of Mission, Texas, and Tía Maria Rico, of Astoria, Oregon; and her beloved best friend, Karen, who stood by her side with unwavering love and loyalty.

Lola was a strong, humble woman with a soft heart and a quiet presence. She wasn't one to be loud or draw attention to herself, but she had a silly side that came out in the best moments. Her little giggle was unforgettable and could make anyone smile. She didn't need to say much, just being around her brought comfort, laughter, and love.

She also carried a deep love for animals, a bond woven into every part of her life. Whether it was a pet curled up beside her or a stray in need of kindness, Lola treated each with tenderness and respect. Animals were never "just animals" to her, they were companions, friends, and family.

Lola will be remembered for her gentle strength, her listening ear, and the peace she brought to every space she entered. She lived with grace and left quietly, but her impact will forever be felt in the hearts of those who knew and loved her

Public Visitation will be held on April 18, 2025, at Guardian Funeral Home at 10:00a.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30a.m. Inurnment will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery at 1:00p.m.

In honor of the love and compassion Lola gave so freely, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to PAAC – People Assisting Animal Control, the place she always trusted and took her beloved dogs. This local no-kill organization works tirelessly to rescue, treat, and rehome animals in need—just as Lola would've wanted.
