IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diana
Alegría
September 3, 1951 – July 19, 2021
Diana Alegría was welcomed into heaven and the glorious presence of her savior Jesus Christ on July 19, 2021. She was born on September 3, 1951, to Alfonso and Francisca Kidder in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Jorge Alegría, shortly after graduating from Roy Miller High School. They remained together for the next 51 years.
Together, they raised three sons, Jorge Jr., Daniel, and Ricardo. She was surely dedicated to her children, and although she had no daughters, she deeply loved her daughters-in-law, and was a mother to so many other young ladies. She had ten grandchildren; but again, her capacity for love was such that many other young people looked up to her as a grandmother.
She was a talented and creative homemaker. She loved to bake and to cook, especially tortillas. For many years, at Christmas-time, she would make thousands of cookies to give to family and friends. She loved to read, to crochet, put puzzles together, play board games, collect gospel music; and she was highly skilled at sewing. Diana was always willing to share her experience and teach others, whenever she was asked.
She was a treasured friend to many, many people. Diana was known for her kindness, her generosity, and unwavering loyalty. Her life mission was to be a blessing to others, and she showered everyone with simple acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and nuggets of wisdom.
Most importantly, she was a Christian lady, who knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She loved to share her faith with others and talk about the Word of God. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Corpus Christi since 2010, where she leaves a lasting legacy of service, generosity, and devotion.
Diana is preceded in death by both of her parents.
She is survived by her husband: Jorge Alegría; two sisters: Rosalinda (David) Rodriguez and Carmen Torres; sons: Jorge Alegría Jr., Daniel (Sally) Alegría, and Ricardo (Patricia) Alegría; grandchildren: Frank, Belia, Ava, Finny, Angelina, Phillip, Olivia, Carina, Patrick, and Benjamin.
Visitation will take place at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi from 5pm to 8pm, on Monday, July 26, 2021. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church in Corpus Christi at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, with Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m.
