Obituary

Denise Wilson Rehfeld, 79, passed peacefully with her family by her side on March 23, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Denise was born on February 18, 1936 in Austin, TX.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Jerry Daniel Wilson and Elon Cook Wilson, and her brother, Daniel Alden Wilson.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Edwin C. Rehfeld, Jr.; daughters, Jeanne Klein (John) of Houston, TX, and Laura Davis (Spencer) of Corpus Christi, TX; grandsons, Danny Curtis, Jr. (Ashton), Eric Curtis (Britney), Cody Curtis (April) and Jordan Sorrell (Hailey); great-grandsons, Kale Curtis, Barrett Curtis and Wyatt Sorrell; nieces and nephews.
Ed was in the Army stationed at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts and they decided they would marry when Denise graduated from high school. He flew back to TX from MA upon her graduation and they married in Corpus Christi on June 8, 1954. After only a couple of days in Corpus Christi they drove back to MA and had a wonderful New England honeymoon. Denise worked in the Post Exchange office and at the end of Ed's enlistment they returned to Corpus Christi. They were always together and you wouldn't see one without the other. They complemented each other. Denise and Ed were the true love of each other's lives from the very beginning and those around them were blessed to be witness to their love. Denise and Ed enjoyed the years they spent traveling to many exciting and exotic locations all over the world with a wonderful group of friends. Denise loved music whether it was Classical, Country or Mariachi. She enjoyed playing the piano and the guitar and was known for her beautiful singing voice. She was a lover of the Arts, creating pottery and works on canvas.
Denise graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1975 from Del Mar College with an AA Degree, and in 1976 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&I Corpus Christi with her BA Degree. She returned to Del Mar to become a Court Reporter and was certified by the Supreme Court of Texas in 1978. She was the Official Court Reporter of the Nueces County 214th District Court for nearly 20 years. She left the Court for a period of time to start her own freelance court reporting firm. She then returned to the Nueces County Courts to vest her retirement. Denise officially retired from Court Reporting in 1998.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015 at 2pm at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX. The family would like to thank the staff of Villa of CC – South for their love and care of Denise over the past few years and Gentiva Hospice for their gentle care in the last week of her life.
