Obituary

Debra Sue Johnson also known as AKA "Debbie" was born to the late Otto Herman and Rosa Lee Hodge in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 10, 1958. Debra graduated from W. B. Ray High School, Class of 1977. She was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University now known as "Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas where she was a member of the OMEGA PEARLS (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.)
She was a Supervisor at Texas Health and Human Services in Corpus Christi, Texas. Debbie loved people. She was kind, loving, and giving. While residing in Corpus Christi, she met and was united in marriage to Melvin Johnson, and to this union was born Elisha Maxwell Johnson and Shau'da Gin'ette Johnson.
Debbie accepted Christ at an early age and was reared at Thompson Chapel Church of God in Christ, now under the leadership of Elder Sam Johnson which is a part of the Texas Southeast Second Jurisdiction, Bishop A. LaDell Thomas, Jr. Prelate. Being reared in the church, Debbie was an enthusiastic church worker and served as usher, choir member, church secretary and wherever she was needed.
Debbie departed this life July 17, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Hodge, Sr.; mother, Rosa Lee Hodge; daughter, Shau'da Johnson; brother, Otto Hodge, Jr.; sister, Erma Jean Hodge Luke.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Elisha Maxwell Johnson; sisters, Lillian Billie (Edward), Dorothy Polk, Geraldine Hazzard, Mary Alice Terrell; brothers, Marvin "Reggie" Hodge, Charles Coleman; grandchild, Elisha "Bevow" Johnson; a beloved Godmother, Erma Lee Bolden and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Wake will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Guardian funeral home from 5:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Matthew Baptist Church, 1101 Waco. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery.
