On the morning of March 14, 2022, Deanna passed away peacefully at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas. Deanna was 84 years old.

Deanna was born on September 7, 1937 in Minnesota. She was the only daughter of Rachel R. Kusche.

After raising her family in Arizona with her husband Herbert, they moved to the tropical climate of the Coastal Bend region of South Texas, Corpus Christi where she spent the remainder of her life.

Deanna was very much the family caregiver. She spent most of her adult life caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the last few years of her life she suffered from Alzheimer's. She eventually moved to an assisted living facility where she met many new friends, and experienced new adventures every day.

Deanna was preceded in death by her husband Herbert C. Mathis, mother Rachel R. Kusche, brother Donald Pietsch, and her son Carl R. Mathis.

Deanna is survived by her daughters Christine Andre (Bob), Kimmie-Jo Mathis-Doumis (David), Tamara L. Bennett, her siblings Larry Kusche (Sally), Jeff Kusche (Linda), Mike Kusche (Lisa), grandsons Ryan Bennett (Rachel), L. David Doumis, Brandon Bennett, Russell Andre, granddaughters Rachel Faria (Andy), Amy Bailey (Kyle) and her three great- grandchildren.

Deanna was interred at Veterans Memorial Cemetery 9974 IH 37 Access Road in Corpus Christi, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The Waterford at Corpus Christi, 5813 Esplanade Dr. Corpus Christi, Texas 78414. The family would like to give special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at Christus Spohn Hospital and Summit Hospice for the wonderful care Deanna and the family received.
