Obituary

David Allen Prosek born June 1st, 1950 to the late Franklin Anton and Loretta Joy, passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2026 while surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Debbie Badnell and Holly Majko, and his first wife Sheila Prosek.

To cherish his memories and carry on his legacy of hard work, family values, and the love of his country he leaves behind his wife and life partner of 40+ years Tammy Kay Prosek and their two daughters Amber Joy and April Rose. He leaves behind his two sons, David Franklin and Darryl Allen, from his first wife Sheila.

In addition to his children, he leaves behind 14 grandchildren; Jeff, Christopher, Brianna, Nicole, Marshall, Michael, Kayla, Scarlett, David, William, Alyvia, Delaney, Daisy, and Delilah, as well as 7 great grandchildren; Colton, Ava, Landon, Sophia, Phoebe, Nick, and Isabella.

He rescued several pets over the years and has loved every one of them. His recent rescue was his daily companion for almost three years. Gladis brought him never ending joy and laughter with her spunky personality. They enjoyed sharing snacks and relaxing in the garage. She is mourning with the rest of the family.

He spent most of his 76 years on Earth fixing or rebuilding automobiles. He first learned the trade at 16 years old, He had a passion for learning and never stopped seeking more knowledge. He found great joy in sharing his wisdom and love of mechanics with younger generations, leaving them with lessons that will be remembered for years to come. He owned mechanic shops in his middle aged years, up until he decided to “semi-retire”.

Before his health started to fail him, you could find him at a local “Bluff Bar” or a racetrack on Saturday night. He made many lifelong friends there. Many of those friends have passed, but you could still find him watching local races at home on a Saturday night.

His other lifelong passion was fishing. This hobby gave him many more lifelong friendships with various hilarious stories to tell from the years that will be remembered by many.

Towards the end of his time here on Earth, you could find him in his garage. Typically you’d find him bellied up to his desk playing solitaire with GRIT on the TV and a Diet Pepsi nearby. His emails would fly out by mid-morning with a guarantee to make you laugh. You could always expect his emails to have a beautiful, less than fully clothed woman, a political cartoon, or a patriotic slogan- all things that brought a smile to his face.

He will truly be missed by all that knew him. It brings his family peace to know he is now pain-free, not suffering, and has made it to be with his best buds and family who have been patiently waiting for him. The family would like to thank all of the family and friends who called, texted, visited, prayed, and brought meals during that time. They would also like to thank the hospice team that kept him comfortable in his transition.

A celebration of life will occur at a later date.
