Obituary

Wiley David Milner, born in Bremerton Washington 6 September 1950, was 70 years young when his big heart gave way on 6 November 2020.

David's dad was a Navy guy whose occupation sent the family to Panama in the late 1950's. David's sister Denise, mentioned some of the things he loved doing in Panama were fishing with paperclips, sliding down hills on cardboard and watching scary movies. He especially loved eating monkey plums, bananas and coconuts straight from the trees. A great life for a kid.

David attended Beeville High School and was a proud Trojan who played football, baseball and sang in the school choir. He and his high school sweetheart, Dolores McKennon graduated in 1969 and married a year later in May 1970. Both David and Dolores graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. David was employed at IBM in security then climbing the corporate ladder became the "Site Emergency Planner" for 11,000 people. He was highly trained in fire suppression and safety. David gained many lifelong friends at IBM. He retired from IBM in 1993.

David lost his beloved Dolores in 1987. The dad of 11 year old daughter, Andrea and 9 year old son, Aaron became "Mr. Mom."

In June 1997, he and Susan Jessen married. David, Susan and Dakota moved to Alpine Texas in 1998 where they camped, rode motorcycles and frequented Mexican border towns around the Big Bend area.

In 2000, just past his 50 birthday, he received a quadruple bypass surgery that extended his life 20 years. With David's well understood stubbornness, he questioned the prescription drugs and sought his own way of improving his health and managed to add years to his valuable life.

Moving to San Antonio in 2001, David took on several diverse jobs. The job most rewarding was driving a school bus for inner city kids. "Mr. Bus Driver" as David was known, loved his kids and they loved him back. Christmas time was fun when he'd receive homemade cards and sweet letters and gifts.

In 2018, after 17 years, the Milner's left their beloved neighborhood home on Bluffridge in San Antonio, to live in his childhood home in Beeville, Texas.

David was passionate about motorcycles. Sport bikes, road racing, drag racing, motocross, supermotos, enduros were some of his favorites. He and his friend Frans deWeers would talk endlessly about motorcycles, their cc's, motors, types of drives, racing and tires. European and Japanese bikes were his favorites. The faster the better. He enjoyed riding with his dad and son. All were skilled riders.

David is survived by his wife Susan of 23 years; daughter Andrea Milner, granddaughter Alexis Avirett; son Aaron Milner - wife Melissa, grandson Ryan, granddaughter Avery; step-daughter Dakota Swan - husband Christopher, grandson Topher; sister Denise Upton - husband Claude; niece Mitzi Sandell - husband Jim, great niece Harley Anagnostis - husband Dimitri, great nephew Sam Sandell; brother and sister in laws: Paul and Linda Eagan, Donna McKennon, Alex and Sally Simanovicki, Steve and Patty Jessen; nieces and nephews: Sara Ellstrom, Jesse Jessen, Bailey and Mitch Blankenship.
