Obituary

David Steven Hayden, 70, of Corpus Christi, Texas was called home by our Lord Jesus on September 17, 2022. David was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 colon cancer on August 26, 2022.

David is preceded in death by his wife (Karen Smith Hayden), his father Dave Hayden and mother Jane Hayden (Oldham), his sister Peggy Brennan, his brother Donald McCreary, his brother Thomas Hayden, and his nephew Randy Hayden. He is survived by his daughters Shannon Aguilar and husband Jerel, Erin Garger and husband Matthew, Elizabeth Hayden and fiancée Cheston Todd and Abigayle Hayden. His son David Steven Hayden Jr along with his sisters Sharon Johnson (Chuck), Patricia Crowder (Brad-deceased), Marsha Bellinger (Skip), Alice Thomas (Allen), Lorrie Seay, Kathy Ewing (Gregg) and his brother Charles Hayden (Maria), along with numerous nieces and nephews. He attended Tuloso Midway ISD thru his junior year and then graduated from Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas.

David was employed with Acuren Inspection, 1814 Holly Road, C.C. Tx as an NDE Technician for 15 years. He enjoyed his job and working in the Oil & Gas industry. Throughout his career, David was revered for his work ethic and his excellent customer relations.

David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Leanna, Hayden, Savannah, Wesley, and CW whom he loved and cherished. David loved making people laugh, listening to music on his front porch and gardening. One of his favorite expressions was to greet people with "has anyone told you that you sure are looking good today."

David was a member of Church Unlimited and frequented both the Island and Rockport locations. Although David came to know Christ later in life, he was a dedicated servant; he loved the God Behind Bars ministry run by Church Unlimited and volunteered faithfully at the McConnell and Garza units in Beeville Texas. David loved the church and attended the live service on September 10, 2022. Although   he was very ill, he still stood on the front row and worshipped Jesus as was his custom; he proudly completed the mission statement of his church by "taking as many people to heaven as he could before he died. Period.

A celebration of life will be held at the Malaquite Beach Visitors Center, 20420 Park Road 22, C.C. Tx on October 22,2022 at 10:30am.

If desired, donations can be made to The Village Centers, 3819 Plum Valley Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77339 (villagelac.org) in honor of Bryan Hayden or the God Behind Bars prison ministry thru Church Unlimited.
