Obituary

David Vincent Graceffa went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a brief illness in Corpus Christi on January 2, 2024.

David was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on May 24, 1970, a son of Carol Ann (McDermott) Graceffa and Vincent Anthony Graceffa.  He was educated in Waltham Public Schools and graduated from Waltham High School in the Class of 1988.

David's interest in electronics and telecommunications took him to careers from the former Waltham Cable Television to WHDH radio in Boston.  In 1992 he embarked on a career as a live television broadcast engineer and news truck operator at WBZ-TV in Boston.

Later, David began working as a freelance broadcast engineer in a career that would literally take him all over the world.  He covered World Series, Super Bowls, presidential campaigns, political debates, and every other kind of news imaginable.  In 1997 David worked with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in the Philippine Sea as a deep-water robotic camera engineer supporting litigation over the sinking of the British ship "The Derbyshire."  His experience was part of a documentary broadcast on the BBC.

David met his wife Jacqueline ("Jackie") in 2014 while working for several months on an engineering assignment for Univision in Veracruz, Mexico.  Jackie was the front desk manager at the hotel where David stayed.  They married in 2015.

David moved with his family from Massachusetts to Corpus Christi in September 2023 for a career opportunity as a broadcast engineering manager at FOX 38 in Corpus.

David was predeceased by his mother, Carol Ann Graceffa.

He leaves his wife Jackie and daughters Cielo and Carol of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother Peter and his wife Claire of Quincy, Massachusetts; brother Vincent and his wife Susan of Northbridge, Massachusetts; niece Cailey of Northbridge and nephew Samuel of Northbridge; and his father, Vincent Anthony Graceffa of Chelsea, Massachusetts.  He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

A memorial service and celebration of David's life will be held in Massachusetts at a time and date to be announced.

David's story does not end here, for his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched, the problems he solved, and the quiet moments of beauty he appreciated in the world around him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
