Obituary
David "Diamond Dave" Zapata passed away in the comfort of his own home on February 12, 2023 at the age of 60.
He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 29, 1962 to Bentura and Margarita Zapata.
A beloved brother, uncle, cousin, dad, grandpa and friend to many is now at rest. He is preceded in death by our parents Bentura and Margarita Zapata
and our brother and sister. He is survived by 9 brothers and sisters, his long time companion Patty and kids Laura and Tito, and grandkids Ramon, JJ,
Anthony, RJ, David , Lydia.
Diamond Dave was a brick mason for most of his life and loved making things out of brick and concrete. His hobbies also included woodworking in the garage, fishing, and watching wrestling. He was also his grandkids biggest fan and could always be found at a baseball field watching their games. Diamond Dave was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and rooted for them every season. Another one of his favorite things to do was to dance, and loved going to Zumba classes.
Even though he was tough, he had a heart of gold. He was always ready and willing to help out anyone who needed help with no questions asked and never asked for anything in return.
We the Zapata Family would also like to give a big thank you and appreciation to his daughter Laura Lara and son in law and his grandchildren for watching over him and taking care of him to his last breath, you can never imagine how grateful we will be to you.
Lastly everyone who knew Diamond Dave knew his favorite saying, when someone would ask why he calls himself Diamond Dave he would respond with he is "Diamond Dave because diamonds are forever" . He was definitely right. We will forever cherish and remember him.
Memorial services for David will be held on
Friday, February 24, 2023
at 6:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home chapel. Family will start to receive friends and family at 4:00 p.m.
