Darrell Joe Burditt, aged 83 of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29. He was born on May 7, 1941 to Elaine Chandler Burditt and Darrell Maurice Burditt in Pharr, Texas.

Darrell was known for his hardworking spirit, deep love for his family, and a willingness to help anyone in need.

After graduating from Weslaco High School, he received a music scholarship in trumpet to Del Mar College and finished his degree in Music Education at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.

Darrell's first job was band director at Odem High School. Following his time there he was head band director at Refugio High School, Flour Bluff High School and King High School. He also worked at South Texas Music Mart for 10 years. He loved teaching; he loved his students, and music was his life.

Darrell played trumpet beginning in 3rd grade until about 3 years ago. He played 1st trumpet in the Corpus Christi Symphony, Corpus Christi Wind Symphony (a founding member), PentaBrass, and other bands throughout the area.

Outside of work, Darrell found joy in finding good deals on vehicles, RVing all over the US with great friends, piddling in his workshop and being a caretaker for his dad, his mother-in-law and father-in-law. Darrell loved his family and he was a loyal friend.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and Maurice as well as his brother, Mack Burditt.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Nancy Burditt of Corpus Christi, his niece, Holly Burditt of Normangee, Texas, and his nephew, Darrell Burditt (Jessica Burditt) of Cypress, Texas.
