Obituary
Daniel "Danny" Ybarra passed away on January 13, 2018 surrounded by the most important part of his life, his children.
Anyone who met Danny knew he was enormously proud of his children and always wanted to create the most special memories for them: surprise Happy Meals at school, weekend road trips, or just coming home with candy, "the kiddos" always knew he was thinking of them. One of his GRANDest moments was becoming "Popo" to Ivy. His heart grew even more with his newest grandbaby, Emy.
Danny was cherished and loved by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a friend to all and everybody's favorite handyman. Danny enjoyed volunteering, building Junior Buc Days floats for Windsor Park Elementary, barbecuing for fundraisers, and selling tickets at a Halloween carnival. Danny was always willing to step up.
Danny developed a vast skillset by helping his brothers at International Tile, working at Fairbairn Electric, IBEW Local #278, and puttering with his vintage Mustang. When they were in school, his kiddos enjoyed Danny's expertise in building the biggest, coolest school projects. As adults, his kiddos continued to reap the benefits of Danny's handiness. He loved being "put to work" painting bedrooms, installing patio lights, or helping them move from one house to another.
You could find Danny hanging out with his brothers and best friends, Albert and Eddie. Whether in the garage watching a Cowboys game or getting together at "the land," Danny enjoyed spending time with his brothers.
Danny is survived by his children, Erica Marie Ybarra, Daniel J. Ybarra, Jr. (Katherine Franco), Ashley Michelle Tovar (Manuel N. Tovar), Timothy R. Ybarra, their mother Christina Cantu Ybarra, and his granddaughters Ivy Lili Ortiz and Emilia Franco Ybarra.
He is also survived by his mother, Esther Ybarra, his siblings, Margie Angeles (Nicolas), Yolanda Gaeta (Steven), Albert Ybarra Jr. (Belinda), Eddie Ybarra (Rosaena), Minnie Munoz (Joseph), Mary Esther West (Brian) and Charlie Ybarra. Danny is preceded in death by his father, Alberto Ybarra Sr.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Guardian Funeral Home. Danny's Celebration of Life service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please honor Danny's life by sharing your favorite story or personal memory. To leave condolences, please visit guardianfhcremation.com.
