In Loving Memory Of

Daniel Jared “Goose” Solis, 47, left us far too soon on April 13th, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and community that will never be forgotten.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Jared was the beloved son of Maureen and Dan Solis and was named after both his father and grandfather. From an early age, he had a deep love for sports, especially his Houston teams, the Texans and the Astros, and spent much of his youth playing baseball, always with his dad as coach. He attended Langham Creek High School, where he earned the nickname “Goose,” and went on to play college baseball at Tyler Junior College before continuing at the University of Southwest Texas.

After college, Jared moved to Colorado, a place he held close to his heart. He embraced everything the outdoors had to offer, including snowboarding, hiking, white water rafting, and even conquering one of the tallest peaks in the world. He truly lived life on the slopes. Later, he settled in Corpus Christi, where he found a love for the ocean, spending his time surfing, kayaking, bay fishing, and enjoying the peace of the water.

Jared’s greatest accomplishment was opening his own bar and restaurant, Riley’s Pub, named after his daughter, Riley, who meant everything to him. Approaching its 10 year anniversary, Riley’s Pub stands as a testament to Jared’s hard work, generosity, and the deep connections he built with those around him. He was a pillar in the community, someone everyone knew and loved. Whether sponsoring little league teams for his nephew or supporting his daughter’s softball team at London High School, where a Riley’s Pub flag proudly hangs, Jared gave back in every way he could. He often hosted events at his bar simply to show appreciation for the people who supported him.

More than anything, Jared was a devoted and proud father. Riley was the center of his world and his greatest joy. Everything he built, including Riley’s Pub, was rooted in his love for her. He showed up for her in every way, supporting her passions, especially softball, cheering her on, and making sure she always knew how deeply she was loved. He was not only her dad, but her biggest fan, her protector, and her constant source of encouragement. The bond they shared was undeniable, and his love for her will live on in everything she does.

Jared was truly a “gentle giant,” known for his warm smile and infectious laugh. He had a rare ability to be fully present with people, making you feel important, valued, and seen in every interaction. His charisma, generosity, humor, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He believed deeply in the power of positive thinking and carried that mindset into everything he did, uplifting those around him and always choosing to see the good in people and in life. As his late grandfather wisely said, he lived by the three C’s, “stay cool, calm, and collected.” A lesson shaped during WWII, this wisdom was passed down to his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Daniel Solis, Mary and Louis Luna, and his uncle, Robert Luna.

Jared is survived by his wife, Natasha Saponari; his daughter, Riley Solis; his parents, Maureen and Dan Solis; his sister and brother in law, Jennifer and Michael Zolot; his nephew, Grayson Zolot; and his beloved dogs.

A memorial service will be held at Guardian Funeral Home on Saturday the 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow at Riley’s Pub.
