IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel Edward
Bonnes
August 8, 1964 – May 13, 2024
Daniel "Dan" Edward Bonnes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was called home on May 13, 2024 at 59 years of age, following a seven year battle with Alzheimer's disease
Born on August 8, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas to Daniel and Jacquelynn Bonnes, Dan led a life filled with steadfast dedication to his family and friends and brought brightness to the lives of those he touched. Known for his generosity, intelligence, kindness, and fun-loving nature, he left an everlasting impression on the lives of many.
At a young age, Dan started working in a restaurant which sparked a passion. After working for many restaurants and obtaining a culinary degree from Del Mar College and a BBA degree from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, Dan's restaurant dreams culminated in the development of The Bayou Grill restaurant in Corpus Christi, which he owned and operated for many years.
To quench his thirst for further knowledge and desire to be of service to others, Dan learned the trade of air conditioning at Del Mar College. He went on to help many friends and family members with their air conditioning systems. This is just one of the ways Dan displayed his desire to be generous to others with his time and resources.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Dan cherished spending time with family and friends, traveling, and perfecting his hobbies of car racing, precision shooting, and golfing.
Dan was especially proud of his children and found much joy in their involvement in activities and in providing them with opportunities that he didn't have. He never missed a swim meet, baseball game, piano recital, ballet performance, school play, or whatever it was his children participated in. He also served on the school board at Annapolis Christian Academy where Nathan and Annika attended from kindergarten through high school graduation.
Dan was a member of Asbury Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board, volunteered his time with Volunteers In Mission, going on several mission trips to Mexico, and led Disciple Bible studies.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Gladys Bonnes, son Nathan (Gretchen) Bonnes, daughter Annika (Jaydon) Maehs, granddaughter Nora Bonnes, stepmom Margie Bonnes, parent figures Joe & Dee Brew, siblings Dana (Greg) Arthur, Cindy (Louis) Parker, Bruce (Lisa) Bonnes, and Gary Carlin, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Araceli Hernandez, Lori Luna, Alicia Jordan, and the staff of St. Gabriel of Corpus Christi and Choice Hospice for the devoted care and respect that he received.
