IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Consuelo Castillo
Ceniceros
March 22, 1931 – May 3, 2024
Consuelo Castillo Ceniceros was called home by her Lord on May 3, 2024.
She was the daughter of Delfino Castillo and Aurora de la Torre. Her parents owned a ranch east of Torreon, Coahuila, where she spent her formative years helping her parents with the chores of running the ranch. She had a sister, Ernestina, and a brother, Jesus (Tio Chuy)
She loved horses and fondly recalled racing horses with her teenage girlfriends against the social mores of the time.
It was at this ranch where she met a handsome ranch hand who would become her husband, Francisco Ceniceros (Sr.)
Seeking a better life, the pair, with kids in tow, moved to Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Francisco was a gifted musician and excelled at the requinto and was a sought-after musician.
To supplement his income, Consuelo quickly learned the value of hard work and began selling Stanley products. She always had an eye for the next opportunity often thinking outside the box such as selling gleaned produce out of the trunk of her car, or making homemade donuts (I can still remember the delicious aromas wafting thru the neighborhood and how quickly the donuts sold).
Hurricane Beaulah provided an opportunity for her husband, and he moved to Corpus Christi seeking carpentry work.
Consuelo soon followed with her growing brood.
This move catapulted her into the woman she would become, A resilient, tenacious and inventive woman with an uncanny sense of business, she quickly learned how to turn a profit.
She established herself as an enterprising woman and imported Mexican products for her growing clientele.
She was very proud of the work she did selling Mary Kay products and attended a Mary Kay convention in Dallas, Texas.
Loved by all she met, she grew into a strong matriarch of vision who strove to further herself and her family.
She was tough but still sensitive and willing to help individuals she met facing hardships when she could.
She always kept her home open to shelter her children and grandchildren over the years.
Consuelo, is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister, her husband Francisco, a never forgotten infant boy Artemio and granddaughters Cristina and Corina
She is survived by her children Victor (Adriana), Josefina Garcia, Maricela Casas (Humberto), Adela Galvan (Alejandro), Myrna Solis, Francisco (Sandy), Iris Fielden (Gregg), Ileana Lopez (Joe) and many loving grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and even great greatgrandchildren.
