Obituary

Claude Michael "Mickey" Whittle (1949 - 2024)
Mickey Whittle was a great man who loved the Lord, his family and his country.

Claude Michael "Mickey" Whittle, 74 years old, of Corpus Christi, TX, died on February 8, 2024, surrounded by his friends and family.

Mickey was born in Coronado, CA in 1949 to Claude and Mary Lois Whittle.  He was a part of a military family that moved all over the country. He graduated from THE University of Texas in 1977 with a degree in Electrical Engineering with Computer Applications.   Mickey joined the US Navy in 1972.  He started as an E2 and retired a full Commander 24 years later.  He started out as a nuclear machinist's mate in submarines then transferred to surface ships.

Mickey met the love of his life, Susie Jackson in 1967 in Corpus Christi, TX. They met on a blind date and started their new lives together on June 12, 1970. Mickey and Susie couldn't wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them; Michael (Amber) Whittle, Sheri Whittle. Mickey's favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Pawpaw; Morgan Whittle (Kim), Claudia Whittle, Mason Whittle, and Tucker Whittle. Mickey was an active member of Lexington Baptist Church, devoting his time and energy to showing God's love in the sound room and being the keeper of the thermostats.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Bernard Whittle and Mary Lois Whittle, his brothers, William "Buddy" Whittle and Robert Whittle, and is survived by his wife, Susie Whittle,  children, Michael (Amber) and Sheri and grandchildren, Morgan (Kim), Claudia, Mason, and Tucker.

We couldn't have asked for a better husband, Dad, Pawpaw, and friend and will miss Mickey every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

We will have a service to honor Mickey on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Lexington Baptist Church.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will be at 11:00 a.m.
