Claude D. (Sparky) Sparks, age 92, passed away September 9, 2013.
Born in Comanche, Texas to Manola Jane Patton Sparks and Thomas Cleborn Sparks, raised in central Texas and graduated from Dublin High School in 1937. In 1942 he quit his job with Curtis Wright Aircraft and returned to Texas to enlist in the Navy. He served in the Navy for 38 months during World War II, 20 months of that time was in the South Pacific. He came to Corpus Christi in February of 1947, and after a number of years established a wholesale lumber business.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, a sister and brother-in-law, and a brother-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Georgia, three step-children, Larry (Beth)Springs, Allan (Debbie) Springs, and Carol Springs (Mike) Gwin, one sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Jim Wilson, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 6102 Greenwood Dr. with Services to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military honors will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery, 9974 IH 37 access road.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran church, 6102 Greenwood Dr., Crp. Christi, Tx. 78417
