IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles E.
Schaffer
April 12, 1947 – December 3, 2021
Our amazing, loving, hilarious, funny, devoted and overall remarkable husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend Charlie was born on April 12, 1947 in Waco, Texas and passed peacefully after a brief illness in Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday, December 3, 2021. He was the oldest of 2 children born to Leonard and Gertrude. He graduated from Waco High School then went on to honorably serve 2 tours in Vietnam in the Unites States Army prior to discharge and moving to Corpus Christi, Texas. Charlie graduated from Corpus Christi State University with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Psychology. He worked tirelessly with Nueces County Adult Probation, taught classes at the SATF backed by both mental health and criminal justice based backgrounds. On January 26, 1996 Charlie married the love of his life and soul mate, Josephine Guzman Scheffer (Jo) who gave him three beautiful daughters. Charlie served both his country and his community his entire adult life until his retirement in 2004. Charlie was an avid angler, candlemaker, gardener, birdwatcher, and enjoyed a competitive game of canica or dominoes with family and friends. But definitely most fondly of fish and his precious "Josefina".
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Pamela Stelk. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jo and daughters Monica Marie Salazar (Abel), Clarissa Ann Stovall, and Maria (Mary) Esther Munoz (Ryan Lohrer).
A military ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery at 9974 IH 37, Corpus Christi, Tx 78410.
Special thanks to Ryan and Mary for hosting a celebration of Charlie's life at his home of 50 years (now theirs) 11566 Up River Road, Corpus Christi, Tx, 78410 following the Veterans Memorial Ceremony. Cards and remembrances may be sent to same address to be forwarded to his loving spouse. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of Charles Edward Scheffer, or a charity of your choice.
