Obituary

Charles L. Kosarek, Jr. passed away on November 6, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Charles was an avid farmer which began before his feet could touch the pedal and retired in August 2005. He began ranching not long after retiring from farming and did so until he passed away.

Charles graduated from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. He joined the Texas National Guard as a radio technician. Once he completed his duty to our nation, he was employed by the Texas Highway Department, now called the Texas Department of Transportation, as a survey technician. He retired after 20 years of service.

Charles met the love of his life, Mildred Schroeder, and they were married on May 15, 1970. They enjoyed a beautiful life together until Mildred passed away in 2012.

Preceding the death of his father in 1994, he became President of the Behmann Brothers Foundation, which he successfully ran until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. Kosarek, Sr. and Frances Zapletal Kosarek, brother-in-law Leonard Schroeder, nephew Leo McCumber and great-niece Kayla Gottardy.

He is survived by his two daughters: Sherry M. Kosarek of Sandia, Texas and Nancy (Richard) Lindell of Fort Worth. Grandchildren:  Amanda Warren of Fort Worth, Tristin Butler of Wimberly and Hunter Lindell of Fort Worth; and great-granddaughter Ava Kelly of Fort Worth. He is also survived by Beverly Kaulfus, a very special person in his life.

He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Joshua Kosarek (Patricia Hall) and sister and brother-in-law Karen Clark (Jeff).

Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Evelyn and Clayton McCumber, Bernice and Chuck Barraza, Janet and Jimmy Hartman, Norbert and Loraine Schroeder, Patrick and Betty Schroeder; Delores and Delvin Valka, Gladys and Mike Addison and Daniel and Lisa Schroeder.

Nieces and Nephews: Keith (Jenny) McCumber,  Missy (Dwayne) Gottardy, Scott (Julie) Barraza, Mitchell (Holly) Hartman, Jennifer (Malcolm) Spears, Rosie (Clifford) Blanchard, Troy (Courtney) Schroeder, Karl (Amy) Schroeder, Bonnie (Billy) Kinsel, Bryan (Sally) Schroeder, Craig (Ashley) Valka, Cheryl (Hank) Taylor, Kyle (Cora) Addison, Nick (Grace Barcenas) Clark and Andrea Clark and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 9, 2023 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417, immediately followed by the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in Chapel A.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 3918 County Road 61, Robstown, Texas 78380 in Violet . Burial will be at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Dr. Corpus Christi, Texas 78412

Reception to follow at 1 PM at Moravian Hall, 5601 Kostoryz Drive

Pallbearers will be his grandson's Tristin Butler and Hunter Lindell as well as his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Suggs, Eric Bluntzer, Daniel Bluntzer and Scott Ordner.
