It is with selfish sadness, and yet Heavenly joy that we announce the Home-going of Charles Thomas Gwin, Jr.,(Junior) who went to meet his Savior and Lord on May 31, 2014. Charles was born in Parkin, Arkansas on June 23, 1933. His family moved to Texas when he was six years old and lived the rest of his life in Texas. Charles graduated from the Edinburg High School in 1952. He secured employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone (now AT&T) and during that employment he was in the Army, Reserves and Texas National Guard retiring with the rank of Colonel after 40 years of service to his country. Charles retired from the telephone company in 1990, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Those who have preceded him in death are two wives Alma Mae Gwin and Mary Ruth Gwin, a sister Lurline Davis and a brother Hardin Gwin. Surviving are his wife, Patricia and the following children, Carolyn (Daryl) McDonald, Ft. Worth, Michael (Carol) Gwin, Corpus Christi, Cathy (Duane) Clark, Lancaster, Ca., Cynthia (David) Case, Corpus Christi, Step-children, Diana (Dennis) Midge, Arvada, Co., Mary Watters, Lakeside, Ca., John Hedlund, Jr., Arvada, Co., Seven grandchildren, two step-grandsons, 12 great grandchildren and one brother, Darnell (Angie) Gwin. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at The Summit Church, 5801 McArdle Rd. and Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon. Interment with Military honors will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery, 9974 IH 37 access rd.(Rand Morgan).
