Charles Albert Castro passed away on August 8, 2016, at the age of 54. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 20, 1962. Albert's Corpus Christi roots can be traced to a great grandfather that fought in the Civil War, and he has a great grandfather that fought in the American Revolution.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents (biological grandparents) Charles Heavin Castro and Margaret Rodriguez Castro, his biological parents George R. Castro, Sr., and Minerva Ruiz Rodriguez, and his younger brother George Ruiz Castro, Jr. He is also preceded by his great aunts Maria, Rosa, Magdalena, and Evangelina Rodriguez, who all helped raise him, particularly Auntie Mary.
He is survived by his adopted sister (biological aunt) Gloria Castro (Juan) Montalvo, sisters Rosemary Castro (Jimmy) Salinas and Dorothy Castro, half-siblings Cristal Castro, Sandy Castro, Samuel Rene Castro and Justin Castro, and by his stepmother Olga Castro. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Charles Albert was a kind-hearted individual who loved his dogs and cars; there was always at least one of each in residence with him on Hibiscus Street. He lovingly took care of his great aunts in their later years. He was well-loved by his family who enjoyed his company immensely. Charles always had a smile on his face, a joke to tell, or a story to share.
Public visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Guardian Funeral Home, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery.
