Champ McMullen, Jr., age 86, passed away May 12, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. Champ was born May 8, 1929 in Aransas Pass to Champ and Lucille McMullen. Champ grew up in Aransas Pass till he joined the U.S. Army, on his return he went to work for Whitley Trucks where he worked for 25 years. He married Betty Sizemore and they resided in Robstown, Texas till 1977 moving to Van Vleck, Texas and working for Brown and Root. Champ worked there up till his retirement in 2000. Champ and Betty moved back to Robstown the last year and a half ago and lived with his daughter. He enjoyed working in his shop making wood crafts, Christmas yard decorations and other crafts projects. Champ was also known to many as Mac or CC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Champ McMullen, Sr. and Lucille Ward McMullen, his son, Clark McMullen, step-mother, Maime McMullen, a sister, Margaret Copeland, and son-in-law, William Merritt. He is survived by his wife Betty of 60 years of Robstown, his daughters, Debbie Merritt of Robstown, Sharla Burke of Van Vleck, Tx., his grandchildren, Melody Merritt of Robstown, Clint Merritt of Robstown, Jonathan Merritt of Dallas, Ashley Oncken of Van Vleck, great granddaughter, Brookelyn Oncken of Van Vleck, two sisters, Alpha Ann Ewing of Houston, and Roberta Thurmond of Plano. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Country Tabernacle Church in Bluntzer 5818 FM 666.
