Obituary

Celia Ramirez (Sanchez), age 78, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1947, in Oakville, Texas, to Estella Hinojosa Sanchez and Marin Rivas Sanchez.

Celia was deeply loved by many and proudly known as "Everyone's Favorite Avon Lady." She dedicated many years to Avon and took great pride in being inducted into the Avon Honor Society yearly beginning in 1982 and continuing for several years through 2019, a true reflection of her dedication, work ethic, and the love people had for her. She was a favorite aunt, a loyal friend, a deeply loved sister, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter, adored by all who knew her.

Celia had a lifelong love for music and singing, especially oldies but goodies, along with her cherished Latino favorites including Tejano, Conjunto, and Mariachi music. Some of her favorite songs included "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, "It Don't Matter to Me" by Bread, and "Oye Mi Corazon" by Tony De la Rosa. Her joyful spirit and beautiful voice made her the life of every family gathering. Alongside her beloved husband Mario, she shared a special love for dancing, filling rooms with laughter and rhythm wherever they went. Together with Mario, she shared a love for traveling and many happy moments spent at the casinos. Celia and Mario shared a beautiful love for nearly 60 years and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this coming March. Their lifelong bond was built on devotion, patience, and unwavering love.

Celia was known for her generous heart and thoughtful nature. She never forgot a birthday and always made sure to recognize birthdays and Christmas with a small, meaningful gift. She was also known for her wonderful cooking, especially her chicken caldo, famous potato salad, cornbread dressing, and arroz con pollo, which brought family and friends together time and time again. Celia was a proud mother and an even prouder grandmother who loved bragging about her five grandchildren: Malaina, Michael, Lucy, Alec, and Brody, as well as her cherished great-granddaughter, Aria.

She also had a deep love for cats and leaves behind her beloved companion, Fluffy, who remained faithfully by her side during her illness. In honor of Celia, the family welcomes donations to a dementia research foundation.

Celia is survived by her loving husband, Mario G. Ramirez; her daughter, Judy A. Axelrod (Ramirez) and husband Gregory Axelrod; her son, Mario Ramirez Jr. and wife Heather Ramirez; her grandchildren Malaina Ramirez (Juan Beltran), Michael Ramirez, Lucy Axelrod, Brody Axelrod, and Alec Moreno Ramirez and his mother, Margo Moreno; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Aria Beltran. She is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estella Hinojosa Sanchez and Marin Rivas Sanchez; her mother-in-law, Maria Ramirez; her father-in-law, Tomas Ramirez; and all of her siblings: Lillie Villarreal, Helen Trevino, Marin Sanchez, Ernest Sanchez, and Carlos Sanchez, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caretaker, Alicia Martinez, and to the compassionate staff of Devoted Hospice and Healthcare for the loving care and support they provided during Celia's final days.

Celia's joy, music, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
