It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Celia Ruth Galvan, who entered eternal rest on January 28, 2026. Born on July 18, 1953 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Alejandro and Maria (Mora) De La Garza. Celia grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a military wife and lived in San Antonio, Texas and Rockport, Texas before returning to Corpus Christi to live out her years there.
Celia was a wonderful baker, seamstress, and home cook. She had a love of arranging floral arrangements, decorating her home, jewelry, the latest fashions, shopping, taking care of her plants and watching her TV novelas. She loved life, her family, and was an animal lover. She adored her cats and her dog. She loved to be around her family and shop with her children any chance she had. Her home was often a meeting hub for the family entertaining numerous family gatherings. She would often host parties for her children having the neighborhood kids attend in addition to family members. In her later years, she enjoyed her grandchildren and family visits and shopping anytime she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alejandro De La Garza and Maria (Mora) De La Garza, son, Daniel Galvan, Jr., sister, Marta Garcia, brothers, Elias De La Garza and Eliseo De La Garza, and Moises De La Garza, and Samuel Ramirez, nephew Eddie De La Garza, niece, Sandra Jimenez, brothers-in-law Oscar, Luis and Victor Galvan, Victoriano Garcia, Trinidad Martinez, and sisters-in-law Ernestina Vela(Natividad Vela, Sr.), and Maggie Cortez, and Eluteria( Moises De La Garza).
Surviving Family
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 57 years, Daniel Galvan, Sr.,
daughters, Cindy Neitz(James), Lisa Marie Krepel(Phil), sons, Roel Galvan, Adam
Galvan(Zaymi), and Jason Galvan(Alyssa), sisters, Avelina Sosa and Rosa Zenteno,
brother, Israel De La Garza(Mary Helen), sisters-in-law, Mary Galvan Serna, Esther
McCullough, Estella Gonzalez(Johnny) of Corpus, Christi, Texas, Maria Galvan(Hector), Vanessa Benavidez(Luis), Liz Galvan(Oscar), Marty Galvan(Victor), brothers-in-law Henry Galvan of Sinton, Texas, Hector Galvan(Maria), and numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins, friends, her cats, and dog, Bear. We will forever miss you and love you. Thank you for being a wonderful mother and
light in this world. Until we meet again, Mom.
Service Information:
Visitation will be held at Guardian Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 8:30am-12pm. Service from 12:15-1:15pm and Burial at Coastal Bend Veteran's Cemetery at 2pm. The family is hosting a reception immediately following the burial at the Lazy V Building (Rob and Bessie Welder Park) in Sinton, TX from 4-7pm.
Special Thanks
The family would like to thank the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center for the wonderful care and friendship to our mother over the last 6 years. She had fond memories of Priscilla, Hanna, James, and Ursula to name a few. We would like to thank Dr. Jack Cortese for his wonderful care and Baldemar Covarrubias, MD, and his staff for the care over the years.
