Obituary

Mrs. Cecilia G. Vasquez was called home to rest with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 17, 2014 while residing at Senior Care of Corpus Christi - where she had many friends and was well liked. Of note were Martha and Dora who lovingly cared for her.

Cecilia was born on May 28, 1934 to Mr. Clemente Garcia and Mrs. Rosa G. Garcia in Benavides, Texas; both of whom preceded her to be with their maker and Lord Savior. Her siblings: Lydia G. Duran (Frank), Lilly G. Lanehart (Melvin), and Santos G. Garcia ... await in heaven, paving the way for Cecilia's arrival to rest in peace from the trials and tribulations of life. In the end, she resolved her differences and was at peace with the Lord and asked blessings for one and all.

Eduardo S. Vasquez, devoted husband for 38 years, left her in 1989 to prepare her place in Heaven, knowing that her loving family still required her presence and direction.

Loving and surviving brothers are: Clemente (Carol) Garcia, Tucson, Arizona and Robert (Diana) Garcia, Corpus Christi, Texas. Her children, a source of pride for Cecilia are: Edward (Sarah) Vasquez, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Linda Ann (Dr. Jorge L.) Sifuentes, Lima, Ohio; Arnold (Janie) Vasquez, San Antonio, Texas; Roland (Lydia) Vasquez, Corpus Christi, Texas; and John Vasquez, San Antonio, Texas.

An additional source of great pride for Cecilia were: 24 Grandchildren, 53 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great Great Grandchildren, and numerous loving Nephews and Nieces. Though the family was too large to assemble together as one, the love prevailed and was never in doubt despite the rigors of life as we know it.

The Woman's Shop provided employment for Cecilia for 30 years and contributed immensely to the family's well being. She enjoyed mingling with her neighbors and friends, and few strangers crossed her path. She has left a gaping hole in all our hearts and will remain in our souls for eternity ... until we meet again in the sanctity of the most high above!

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 4-9 PM at Guardian Funeral Home, Chapel A with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM that evening for all to celebrate and commend Cecilia to our most precious benevolent, and all-forgiving Jesus Christ.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, September 22, 2014 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, 1101 Bloomington Street, (78416) and interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road.
