IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn
Dean
February 3, 1932 – February 26, 2021
Carolyn Dean
( 02/03/32 – 02/26/21 )
It is with sadness to announce that Carolyn passed away surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Boston, but escaped to California and found and married the love of her life – John Dean. They shared a lifetime of 65 years together and traveled the world – living in Europe, Saudi Arabia and across the United States. Whether it was in a VW camper and tent in Greece, skiing in the mountains of Germany, summering in Australia or trailering their 5th wheel from Alaska to Boston and back, theirs was always sure to be an adventure. And what adventures they had. Swimming in the sea at Sri Lanka, bartering with merchants in Singapore or catching a salmon ( and falling in the river - ) in Alaska she was never afraid to be part.
No one could break her spirit for a good time – and throughout her life she had many. They became avid cruise travelers and achieved Honored Guest status so that they could have their regular happy hour! She loved playing bridge and Mahjong with her friends on the island and enjoyed seeing everyone at the Yacht Club monthly gatherings. She enjoyed her afternoons on their back patio making time to enjoy a glass of wine or on special occasions a margarita or lemon drop martini with friends and family.
She was a very proud mother of 3 – Kevin, Kristin and Kathy. They always knew she would be there rooting for them in whatever they were participating in. As they grew up and went out on their own – she became the proud grandmother of 3 – Sean, Glenn and Dean. No little league baseball games or high school football games would be missed. Grandma was always an active cheerleader. And as she became a proud great grandmother the cycle was beginning again.
Instead of a funeral a celebration of her life will be had on her favorite holiday – St. Patricks Day. More details about that to follow.
