Carmen Gutierrez passed away peacefully Monday October 11, 2021, at the age of 81. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. She was born to Guillermo and Marta Galvan on August 15, 1940, in Nursery, Texas, the eighth of 10 children.

Carmen married Vicente Gutierrez and they spent 32 years together until his early death. In the spring of 1961, they bought their home in Corpus Christi and raised their children. Together they created their family and raised nine children, Martha, Vince, Rick, Al, Sylvia, Steve, Daniel, Christie, and Jackie. When Carmen had Martha, she decided to dedicate her life to being a wonderful mother.

Carmen's life was her family; she was the most nurturing, loving, and thoughtful person. She supported her children through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Family came first and was above all else to Carmen, a value she instilled in all those around her. Carmen loved family gatherings, especially Christmas. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith. Carmen enjoyed mariachi music and a good cup of coffee. We will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband (Vicente), eldest daughter (Martha), and son (Rick).

Carmen is survived by her children, Vince (Belinda), Al (Victoria), Sylvia (Jake), Steve, Daniel (Jeannie), Christie (Clinton), and Jackie (Jeremiah). She leaves behind 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Molly Gutierrez, brothers, Beto, Chris, Kiko, and Kite Galvan. Carmen loved and leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

She wanted us to thank each one of you for your prayers during this difficult time. To her neighbor and friend of over 57 years Maggie Alvarado, thank you for sharing all those years with our mother.

Public Gathering will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Carmen will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery following mass.
