Obituary

Bua Chaiveena Brock was born on August 5, 1949, in Roi Et, Thailand. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring Yai, and the most kindhearted woman to all.  After battling COVID-19 for five weeks, she passed quietly in her sleep on February 24, 2022, surrounded by her husband, children, and prayers from around the world.  She leaves behind a legacy of family, generosity, and hope.

Bua was raised by her mother, aunt, and uncle, who ensured she lived a fulfilling and prosperous life.  She earned her bachelor's in accounting at Khon Kaen Commercial College and proceeded to work as an interpreter during the Vietnam War. It was there in Thailand, she married Joseph Albert Brock, and the two began a life in America.

She was a loyal Navy Wife who worked as a Chef, restaurant owner, and in other capacities to support her seven children:  Sununta (Michael) Hock of Kingsville, TX; Rosemary Saiji (Curtis) Ward of Lexington, SC; Christina Onnusa Cayce of Corpus Christi, TX; Leslie Chaiveena (Hipolito Jr.) Silguero of San Antonio, TX; Mary Josephine Brock (deceased); Joseph Albert (Keri) Brock Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; and David Allen (Sabrina) Brock of Leander, TX.

She taught compassion, strength, and the importance of family to her children.  Yet, her family was not limited to those bound by blood. During her first journey to the United States, she made a life-long friend on the airplane.  She never forgot this woman's generosity while lost and alone in a new country. To Bua, family was also her coworkers that she mentored, her patrons who never stopped eating, and all her friends she met while playing Bingo.

Everyone was her family; she truly valued the needs of others before her own. Despite her own obstacles, she brought a warm smile and infectious laugh to those around her. She was always compassionate and willing to lend an empathetic ear. Though Buddhist in faith, she never turned down a prayer. She believed we were all interconnected and recognized that no one was perfect. She had many Bua-isms, but her greatest one is to "forgive the idiot."

Being an only child, Bua wanted to have a big family, and she was gifted with nine grandchildren: Curtis Allen Ward, Samantha Vasithee (Jesse) Jimenez, Leila Ward (Nate) Polly, Christian Suparp Hock, Brandon Everett Cayce, Julian Scott Ward, Shane Everett Cayce, Brock Ambrosio Silguero, and Abigail Chaiveena Silguero.  When she was around, all of them were well-fed and having endless fun. She will continue to watch over them, along with her incoming, twin great granddaughters, Seraphina Sununta Jimenez, and Serabella Suchada Jimenez.

Bua's resilience was seen in her last years, where she overcame non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, became a US citizen, and even earned her driver's license. While her loved ones mourn her passing, she is reunited with others in Heaven: her mother, Onn Srihagoon, her aunt, Saiji Srihagoon, her uncle, Suparp Srihagoon, and her daughter, Mary Josephine Brock.  Though she has left a void in the hearts of those she touched, her memory, her spirit, and her love will live on forever.
