IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bobby Jean
Rains
December 8, 1938 – January 24, 2019
Bobby Jean Rains, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and now, our guardian angel, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 24, 2019 at the age of
80
.
Born in London, Kentucky to her parents Herman and Emily Smallwood on December 8, 1938.
She proudly graduated from Withrow University High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Shortly after graduation she continued her education in beautician school. It was there that she would meet her soulmate, Ronald, when he returned home from the Navy. By the grace of God, these two hearts would be joined in married and live happily for over 60 years together.
Bobby dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She had a profound influence on those whose lives she graced with her presence. If there were only one word to describe her, it would be "elegant." She exuded elegance, grace, beauty, charm, and love. She taught her children to have a strong faith in God, to be devoted to family, to be loyal, respectful to others, independent and caring. She expressed every day of her life that one of her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all brought her so much pride and happiness. The legacy of Bobby's kind spirit, love of reading, and zest for life will live on through her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Bobby is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Emily Smallwood; sister Carlene Clevenger; and her father-in-law Edward Conrad Rains.
She leaves behind, to cherish her memories, her devoted husband Ronald E. Rains; her children: Ronald Allen Rains (Cheryl), Timothy Scott Rains, Lance Todd Rains, Lisa Case, Shawn Conrad Rains (Shannon), Emily Sue Robinson; 14 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; a sister Mary Catherine Calhoun of
Colorado Springs;
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
