Bishop Curtis Byrd, a humble servant of God with a generous heart passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025 at the age of 81. Bishop Byrd touched countless lives through his ministry and compassion. Born on June 1, 1944, in Big Springs, Texas, to Earnest and Addie Byrd, he accepted Christ at an early age and soon began preaching the Word. He attended school in Big Springs and later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he graduated from West Oso High School.

It was in Corpus Christi that he met and married the love of his life, Eleene Byrd. Together, they were blessed with two sons: Curtis Byrd II and Cedric G. Byrd. Bishop Byrd proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. His calling led him to pastor churches in Port Lavaca, San Antonio, Freer, and Corpus Christi, faithfully guiding congregations with wisdom and grace.

Bishop Byrd is survived by his younger brother, Charles Byrd Sr., and his son, Curtis Byrd II, along with a host of loving family members and cherished friends. His legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025 with a visitation at 5:00pm and service to begin at 6:00pm.

Interment to follow the next day on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00am at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery located at 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. Full military honors will start promptly at 10:00am.
